CHAKALAKA FILMS is a French creative workshop and film production company created in 2017 with the idea of consolidating the mission and network of a hard-working team with a rich experience of coproductions with Latin America. We bring to life films bearing a quality signature and vision, innovative cross media projects, and alternative distribution adventures. At CHAKALAKA FILMS, we support emerging talents and projects that are characterised by their search for poetry and lyricism, and the values they defend. Furthermore, we are convinced that cinema is a powerful tool for social change.
The editorial line of our entity is closely related to the vision of its founders, the artist Nicolás Cifuentes and the producer Hector Ulloque, who arrived in France in 2002. He has more than sixteen years of experience in the film industry, especially with the Colombian company Medio de Contención producciones, producing documentary projects as well as international feature films: A MALE by Fabián HERNANDEZ (Director’s Fortnight, Festival de Cannes 2022 and representing Colombia at the Oscars 2023), a coproduction between Colombia, Holland, France and Germany; AMPARO by Simón MESA (Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award – Semaine de la critique, Festival de Cannes 2021), a coproduction between Colombia, Sweden and Germany; VALLEY OF SOULS by Nicolas RINCON (German Camera Award 2020, Golden Star for best film – Marrakech International Film Festival 2019 and Busan International Film Festival 2019), a coproduction between Colombia, Belgium, Brazil and France; among others.
